“M/S Møre” and “M/S Skjernes” 2007. The fishing points are close to the "brygge"!
“Skjerneset” has been the starting point for the family’s fish production and fishing boats for almost 100 years. We are still two generations working as fishermen with two fishing boats based in “Skjerneset”. One of the boats; “M/S Skjernes” (40 feet) is also being used for ocean fishing.
We lease boats from 14 to 18 feet with engines from 4 to 30 hp. The site is well protected in the bay called “Sveggevika” which is full of fish. It is also possible to fish safely, even if there is some wind. If the weather is fine, you will reach the open ocean within ten minutes by boat, where you find depths of 220 meters.
In the spring the codfish arrive in the bay (Sveggevika) to spawn and the fishing boats lie right outside the ”brygge”. Later in the spring ,in May/June, you can catch coalfish and pollack before the mackerel arrive in July. Hake is a very valuable fish in the summer, but also ling and tusk are common fishes in the deeper water. You can find codfish and pollack in shallow water and it is possible to fish right from the shore. The fishing of crabs in autumn is also popular.
